87th Place
The route to 87th Place is relatively easy and takes about an hour from Montrouis or two hours from St. Marc in a small pick-up truck.

There is no electricity or plumbing.
300 people live in two houses. Their greatest need is water. We fill up barrels from people who have tanks and are willing share.

FOOD & WATER DISTRIBUTION
Before we set out for 87th Place, we go to the market to buy a one-week supply of food for them. We buy 2 large 50 kg bags of rice, half of a bag of beans, 36 sticks of soap, 12 bottles of cooking oil, and 36 bouillon cubes. We divide everything into 36 portions. The food and transportation for this distribution costs $150.

When we arrive at 87th Place, we say a prayer, and then their chief Ester jumps on the truck to give each family a bag of food. We help with their medical needs. Before leaving we enjoy a swim in their most beautiful lagoon.

One urgent need at 87th Place is an above-ground cistern to hold water. They have no drinking or cooking water. We have a cost estimate of $1500 to build a cistern which would collect rain water.
